Have You Heard?: An Enlightened Empress Afternoon Tea, Harvey Nichols Edinburgh

Harvey Nichols  Forth Floor has teamed up with the National Museum of Scotland to offer a special Russian themed luxury afternoon tea. To celebrate the opening of Catherine the Great: An Enlightened Empress exhibition (For more on the exhibition click here)

This afternoon tea is Exclusively available from July 9- 27 July and will feature traditional Russian delights such as Vatrusky and the classic Russian honey cake.  

What better way to enjoy this afternoon tea than by visiting the exhibition and following it up with a Russian themed Afternoon tea in the relaxing surroundings of the Forth Floor.

Menu :

Olivier Salad 

Салат Оливье 

A traditional Russian salad made with diced potatoes, vegetables, eggs, and ham all dressed with mayonnaise 

Mushroom Julienne 

грибной жульен 

An Eastern European dish rich with butter, sour cream, mushrooms and cheese 

Pirozhki 

Пирожки 

A generic Russian word for individual-sized baked or fried buns stuffed with a variety of fillings (potato, onion and bacon) 

Cured salmon and Caviar Blini 

лососем и икрой Блины 

Thin pancakes made with yeasted batter 

Pickled Herring 

Маринованная сельдь 

Vatruska 

Baтрушка 

 An Eastern European pastry with a ring of dough and cottage cheese in the middle 

Medovik 

Медовик 

This multi layer cake is fairly sweet and soft from the luscious amount of sour cream and condensed milk cream 

Russian Tea Cake 

Россия торт чай 

A relatively simple recipe, generally consisting entirely of ground nuts, flour and water or, more commonly, butter.  

After baking, they are coated in powdered sugar while still hot. 

Black Russian Cake 

Черный русский пирог 

Gets the name from the famous cocktail made with vodka and Kahlua, a coffee flavoured liquor
