This grand building is at the heart of Singapore, and is extremely significant in it's history as it was initially designed to be an office building for the British settlers in the early 19th Century which explains the very unique architecture which stands out significantly from the modern skyscrapers in the vicinity. After the Japanese Occupation (1942-1945), the building was utilised by the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) as its headquarters before being turned into a hotel.

The Fullerton is ideally placed for a visit to Singapore, situated alongside the river, next to the oldest bridge in Singapore, This waterfront luxury hotel is within 2 blocks of Boat Quay, UOB Plaza, the iconic Merlion, and an MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) station. This meticulously restored historical hotel representing the Palladian architecture in Singapore, features four restaurants, the Lighthouse, on the top floor, serves Italian cuisine, complemented by sweeping views of the waterfront, bay, and skyline, the Jade restaurant showcases Chinese cuisine. The Post Bar is a stylish, contemporary bar located just off the lobby area of the hotel. The bar is set in the original transaction hall of what was Singapore’s General Post Office (built in 1928) – so the interior has an impressive scale with high ceilings and a spacious feel, Despite its modern decoration, fine lines, and comfy couches and chairs, the Post Bar still retains a certain historicity about the place

The design features a sleek, uncluttered look- combining the original architectural elements with modern fittings such as underlit honey onyx bar tables, standing artichoke table lamps made from cardboard, a free standing main cocktail bar, with numerous seating options- at the bar, around high bar style tables and stools, or at low tables and chairs. Large plasma screen TVs are discretely placed for those who wish to follow sports action.

A private Music Room is set at one end of the main bar area- with luxurious soft furnishings- full height wall drapes and mirror- and an underlit translucent floor. The unique post box situated at the entrance of the bar is still fully functioning to this day.

The Fullerton has a long history with the iconic Merlion, The Merlion is a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish, used as a mascot and national personification of Singapore.

Its name combines "mer" meaning the sea and "lion". The fish body represents Singapore's origin as a fishing village when it was called Temasek, which means "sea town" in Javanese. The lion head represents Singapore's original name — Singapura — meaning "lion city" or "kota singa"

The Merlion is situated adjacent to the Hotel, and attracts many visitors from all over the world to see this iconic figure
