OXO Tower London, Celebrates Chocolate Week

Now in its 8th year, the United Kingdom’s biggest chocolate festival is gearing up for a record breaking celebration. From Monday 8 until Sunday 14 October the nation will go chocolate mad.

There are not many occasions when one gets to enjoy up to six different types of chocolate on one plate, except for when it’s Chocolate Week at OXO, of course. The Restaurant will launch a delicious new Chocolate Plate dessert. Ideal for sharing, or not, the extravagant plate includes a luxurious layered truffle with an invigorating kick, a light hazelnut meringue with smooth milk chocolate filling, a blonde bombshell tart peppered with chocolate pearls and a melt-in-the-mouth dark chocolate fondant.

The Restaurant and Brasserie’s Chocolate Plates are priced at £9.50 and £8.50

Or why not try one of OXO towers two Choctails created exclusively for choclate week:

‘Hot Blonde’ is a dreamy blend of Valrhona Celaya chocolate and milk with a touch of caramel. The highlight is the middle layer, made from Dulcey Blonde, a new chocolate by Valrhona which launched on 11 September. In a nutshell, or cocoa bean, it’s caramelised white chocolate with hint of saltiness.

‘Sealed with an X’  Appleton VX and Elements 8 Platinum rums have been cleverly combined in ‘Sealed with an X’. Surprises include Liquor 43 and butterscotch schnapps. There’s a peppering of pure chocolate extract by Devonshire based company Little Pod. The blowtorch-blasted vanilla and dark chocolate topping gives this choctail the X factor.

Served with a selection of OXO chocolate truffles, ‘Hot Blonde’ is priced at £6.50. The OXO Tower Bar has a mini bottle of Mozart chocolate liqueur for everyone who orders the ‘Sealed with an X’ during Chocolate Week 2012, and at only £12.50
